Over the past several months the reputation management firm I confounded has exploded with growth. While juggling the massive amount of high quality leads rolling in, we realized it was time to build a team of SEO Techs. We need technical SEOs and many of them. So I began crafting job descriptions and took a trip down memory lane to the days when I had applied for SEO positions.
As a good SEO candidate, I always conducted thorough research on potential employer prospects. This included crawling and picking apart the agency/company website.
One of my favorite finds was the robots.txt file on Seer Interactive’s website. It had a message for potential applicants and a link to their careers page. It also had the company logo translated into ASCII text.
I’m calling it now. Before long, this digital signature will serve as the new standard for SEO firms.
It sends the right message to SEO candidates. It says:
“we have our shit together, and you have come to the right place to take your SEO career to the next level”.
What’s mind blowing is that there are SEO firms out there that don’t even know what a robots.txt file is lolz.
